The Northwest drama department is performing the musical “Fiddler on the Roof” on Thursday, Nov. 14 Saturday, Nov. 16, and Sunday Nov. 17. The lead role is Henry Millar who plays Tevye.
What’s your lead role in the play “Fiddler on The Roof”?
“I play Tevye the main husband.”
How did you get into acting?
“I kind of started from a young age, I was like 6 when I was in my first “production” I was a cricket or whatever. And then I’ve been kind of involved in music theater. I went to a bunch of musicals with my mom, and then in middle school I went to Mayberry and went to a musical audition.”
What are some difficulties of this play?
“It’s probably the accent, because I have to get a Russian accent, and I’m an old man, so I have to talk slow, and I have to grow a beard.”
Are there ways you and your character relate?
“Yeah, the character I play is kind of witty, and makes jokes about everything, same for me.”
How many hours do you rehearse?
“We go till 6 every day. I guess it’s like three hours a day, the week OF we go until like 11 o’ clock at night.”
What is your character’s bond with the other characters?
“I’m the main dad, so I have three daughters, a wife, and I’m kind of the main guy in the town. So I kind of have a good relationship with everyone.
What’s your daughters’ names?
Tzeitel, Hodel, Chava
