Boys basketball season summary
Last season, Northwest varsity boys lost to North by 33 and 35 points.
With the opening of a new season, however, and the opening of North’s new gym, the Grizzlies ended up with a new result against the Redskins.
On Friday, Dec. 6, the boys were triumphant over North with a final score of 50-45.
Junior Aaron Nicholson was Northwest’s leading scorer with 14 points, followed by junior Nick Williams, who scored 12 points.
This victory was followed by another against West, with a final score of 62-49 on Tuesday, Dec 10.
Junior Cortlin Standifer led the team in scoring with 14 points, along with senior Kaleb Cobb who scored 11 points and senior Cortez Carr with 10.
The Grizzlies then faced a devastating loss to South on Tuesday, Dec. 17. The competitive game concluded with a score of 47-49.
Junior Nick Williams finished with 11 points and senior Brett Johnston scored 10.
The boys’ next opponent was East. The Grizzlies fell short on Thursday, Dec. 19 with a loss of 40-53. Senior Cortez Carr finished with 15 points and sophomore Tyler Caldwell had 7 points.
Northwest then played in Koch Arena, where they procured a victory with a score of 67-53. On that Thursday, Jan. 2, senior Kaleb Cobb led the team in scoring with an astonishing 21 points, followed by Junior Nick Williams with 19.
Their most recent game was on Tuesday, Jan. 7 at Heights. They suffered a loss of 70-34.
The varsity boys play Southeast tonight at 7:30 in the Northwest gym.
