As this 2024-2025 school year has started up so has the sports seasons. One of the crowd favorites as many know is football. This football season school spirit is at an all time high. Senior coordinator Miss. Wofford did her best to ensure everyone got a say in this year’s football themes, she set up a meeting made available to anyone who wanted to provide their opinion. But there has been a recent upset when students come to find that the picked themes are now being changed.
After the meeting students had picked their favorite themes and made the plan set in stone for the rest of the season or so they thought. Imagine the confusion when students planned to dress out in 90s for the upcoming football game just to find out through an Instagram account not associated with northwest high school that the theme has now been changed to blackout. This account that is run by two underclassmen football players has now been taken down but what does our senior coordinator have to say about this?
“I think that we have worked hard, we meaning the class sponsors have worked with students in trying to collaborate with all grade levels to pick themes, and some of the lower classmen have taken it upon themselves after our meeting to change themes when they did not attend the meeting that we tried to get them to come to in the first place, and it’s unfortunate that they decided to take a seniors right away because I don’t think they would appreciate that when they become seniors,” Meagan Wofford (ELA) said.
Wofford also wanted to give a message to the up and coming seniors, “When you become seniors try your best to be involved when you’re asked to be instead of trying to bully your way in making your own themes and decisions”.
That is our senior coordinator’s opinion now let’s take a look at what our seniors think about this.
“They need to quit trying to change stuff, instead of providing fake Instagram accounts they need to get from behind there I don’t want to see anymore northwest barstool pages,” Star Iyday (12) said.
Senior Jerry Florence agrees.
“I don’t know why the lower classmen are trying to change the senior themes it don’t make sense, we didn’t do this last year, they should just listen and stay back and wait there year, cause we were here first we waited, now we’re going to do our own thing,” Florence said.
