The college and career fair is an annual in-school event that is organized by College and Career Coordinator, LaShona Jones, to help students gain insight into universities, programs, internships, community colleges, and other workforce options that may benefit them after high school.
Some of the students attending are still in the early stages of planning for the future.
“I’m not quite sure what I wanna do career-wise, I just wanna go to college for sure, but it definitely helps to see what everybody’s offering and it does help to guide me towards what I wanna do,” Hudson Garcia (11) said.
The career fair helps students look into local college options and see what opportunities they may give to those who are looking to go into a specific line of work and ways of funding their education.
“I know I want to go into the medical field so I’d probably go to college straight after graduating but I considered the National Guard too because they help pay for college,” Mercedeze Boughton (11) said.

“I’m looking to show the Coast Guard is an option for people. We offer plenty of job shadowing programs and scholarships so even if you don’t want a lifelong career in the military it can help you pay for college,” David Pitts, Coast Guard operations specialist said.
